Why Thread Lifting?

Facial sagging and nasolabial folds are primarily caused by gravity and the gradual weakening of facial tissues as we age.

When the supportive structures of the face deteriorate, fat that once sat higher in the cheeks begins to shift downward, a process known as descended fat.

This downward movement creates heaviness in the lower face, contributing directly to the appearance of sagging skin and deeper nasolabial folds.

Thread lifting targets this natural weakening directly, bringing renewed strength to facial tissue and lifting sagging skin.

What You Should Know About Thread Lifting

Non-Invasive

This thread lift treatment is quick, effective, and completely non-surgical, offering a smooth, minimally invasive experience.

With no incisions or lengthy recovery, you can usually resume your normal routine quickly. While some bruising can occur, this typically clears up in a few days.

Minimal Downtime

You’ll notice improvements immediately after the procedure, and your results will continue to develop and refine in the months that follow.

How Does Thread Lifting Work?

Thread lifting uses ultra-fine threads to lift and firm sagging skin, especially in the lower face where the chin often shows early signs of ageing.

These nano threads are placed just beneath the skin using a fine needle and cannula, where they naturally stimulate collagen to restore a smoother, tighter contour.

The threads are smooth rather than barbed, allowing for gentler placement and a more comfortable treatment experience.

A Long-Lasting Non-Surgical Face Lift

  • Results vary by individual but PDO Threads generally last 12 to 18 months.

  • The fine threads are almost invisible, leaving no permanent scarring.

  • Threads stimulate natural collagen to improve a double chin, mild jowling, and loose skin, enhancing jawline definition and overall facial harmony over time.

  • Each thread is made from bio-compatible fibres that safely dissolve over time as the skin rebuilds its own support.

Thread Lifting Process

We start with a consultation, where we discuss your aesthetic goals, assess your skin and chin, and confirm whether Threads are right for you. We’ll explain the procedure, answer your questions, and ensure you’re fully informed. Once suitability is confirmed, you’ll meet your doctor and schedule your treatment.

Step 1: Consultation
Step 3: Treatment

Using a fine cannula, the Threads are gently inserted beneath the skin along the jawline and under the chin. These threads help lift the skin and stimulate collagen production, creating a smoother, firmer contour. The procedure generally takes about an hour.

On the day of your treatment, we'll cleanse and map the treatment areas for precision. A local anaesthetic will then be administered to keep you comfortable throughout the procedure.

Step 2: Preparation
Step 4: Follow up

After the procedure, you may notice mild redness or slight swelling in the treated area, but this typically settles within a few hours to a day. We always provide aftercare instructions to support healing and maintain your results.

Why Add Mono Thread Lifting to Your Thread Treatment?

  • The biggest difference between PDO threads and Mono Threads is that Mono threading adds additional volume to your lift, for a more complete and natural look

  • PDO threads are simply a type of thread made from a specific, dissolvable compound, polydioxanone. They essentially do the 'heavy lifting' while Mono can add some add extra definition.

  • Mono is available on its own but we do recommend combining regular PDO with Mono for the best results.

What People Say About Our Treatments in London

Thread Lifting FAQs

What is the difference between thread lifting and Mono?
Thread lifting is a singular thread strand that is used to provide non-surgical lift. PDO threads (which stands for polydioxanone) is a specific polymer threads can be made from. Using PDO alongside threading adds additional volume. We suggest combination treatment for the best results.
Does thread lifting hurt?

You may feel slight pressure or mild discomfort during the procedure, but a local anaesthetic is used to keep you comfortable. Most patients describe it as very tolerable.

How is a Thread Lift different from barbed threads?

Mono Threads are smooth and designed to stimulate collagen for skin tightening and improved texture. Barbed threads have tiny hooks that physically lift and reposition tissue. Mono Threads give subtle tightening, while barbed threads provide a more noticeable lift.

How long do thread results last?

Results generally last between 12–18 months, depending on your skin condition, age, and lifestyle.

Is there downtime after a thread lift?

Downtime is minimal. You may experience mild swelling, redness, or tenderness for a few days, but you can usually return to normal activities shortly after.

Are threads safe?

Yes. PDO (polydioxanone) is a medical-grade, bio-compatible material commonly used in surgical sutures. The threads naturally dissolve over time.

Who is a good candidate for thread lifting?

PDO Mono Threads are ideal for mild skin laxity, early jowling, or improving contour in areas like the jawline, chin, and cheeks. They’re great for people seeking subtle, natural-looking tightening rather than a dramatic lift.
